How to Develop a Photographic Memory?
There are few techniques how to develop a photographic memory. Start acting right now and you are sure to succeed!
Human brain is a real modern “machine”, and there is not a single engine that can be compared to it!
Every day we memorize much information, which is useful for us.
Later we erase some things eliminating unnecessary details.
So, really, if this process did not happen, our brain would have been overflowed with lots of information, which is completely unnecessary for us.
What happens to the moments, which trigger only pleasant memories?
You must have noticed that we remember them the whole life.
Unfortunately, it concerns negative shocks as well.
So, this mechanism of remembering is quite easy to explain – we clearly remember things, which evoked powerful emotions.
Many people dream of developing a photographic memory, without the slightest suspicion they already have it, though it needs to be trained.
Emotion work as a true stimulant, i.e. there was a definite experience of any kind and it was simply imprinted in memory.
How to develop a photographic memory consciously?
This skill actually provides people with plenty of new possibilities both in everyday life and career.
Techniques how to develop a photographic memory
In order to develop a photographic memory you should start observing.
Can anyone say that he is observant with 100% certainty?
Maybe there are few people, who will affirm it.
Though most often in our fussy lifestyle we sometimes simply have no time to look around and learn at least the things that surround us.
That’s why, if you just memorize small details on the way to work, it is sure to be great progress.
Count how many floors are there in the neighboring house, how many threes grow along the pavement, how many stair steps are there at the entrance to your building.
The most interesting part is going to start as soon as you come to work and start remembering the whole route from the beginning to the end, moreover in both ways.
Continuous observation of an object is sure to develop photographic memory.
When you start training your memory, you’d better take simple objects like a vase or a cup.
- You must continuously look at this object for 5 minutes, literally without distracting your gaze.
- When you are done looking, you are to close your eyes and recall all its details.
- At first, there will be 5-6 details, though after every lesson their number will definitely increase.
- Then you’ll open your eyes and look at the object one more time, comparing it to the picture you’ve created in your mind.
Some people will reproduce all details from the 5th time, some only from the 10th time. Later, it’ll be quite easy to do even from the 1st time.
Then you should switch to the training on pictures and texts.
Surely, there are much more details on the picture, and it’s more difficult to remember them.
At first, you may limit yourself to few details, not more than ten.
In the perspective you’ll be quite able to memorize all details from the first or the second time.
You must learn how to remember the whole picture, with all details at once.
Texts may be represented by poems or formulas; it’s even better if this will be the sequence of numbers, gathered without any logic (neither
arithmetic nor geometric progression).
You should train in the street, if you want to develop a photographic memory.
On the way home or to work you may also train your mind.
At first, you can choose one object: an interesting house, a tree or a beautiful lamp.
Look away or close your eyes and then recall how the picture looked like in details.
Such exercise will not take much time and will gradually become a habit.
Doing it regularly, you won’t even realize how it turned from the game into high results.
Associations can help you develop a photographic memory.
Associative thinking is another key to developing a photographic memory.
You need to create your own list of associative pictures, which psychologists call “an anchor-list”.According to the psychologists’ concept, the words from this list must be connected to any words, creating strong associations in your imagination.
This way, you can “attach” two-three words to every word from your list.
After two weeks of doing such exercises, you’ll easily remember the whole texts.
The same thing happens with numbers.
Any combination of numbers may be separated on such numbers, which are sure to evoke a certain association with a definite event in your life and in lives of other people (even on the country’s scale).
Experiments with texts.
Try to do the following tasks.
- On a sheet of paper you print the text in usual format with letters of the average size (14-point type).
- On another sheet of paper with the same text your assistant must print any extra word.
- Having read the first page you must immediately look at the second page and quickly find the extra word.
- Later there may be more and more extra words in the text and the time to search them will be less and less.
Besides, no matter how strange it sounds, the games “Find a cat” or “Find a dog” on the Internet may assist a lot to this work.
Playing it, you develop the ability to find “the excess” things in the picture very quickly.
You should agree that a cat among the school supplies looks odd and out of place.
Your eyes will learn how to “clutch” at the similar trifles and you’ll successfully train at looking for extra words in the texts.
Backward or “the overturned”.
One more interesting exercise, which develops photographic memory, is to turn over the familiar phrases backwards.
You may start from one word and then word combinations, gradually approaching to the whole quotes or even poems.
When you perfectly master it, you can add hearing and sing “overturned” songs.
Play with pair pictures in order to develop a photographic memory.
Such game is considered to be childish, that’s why you can look for it in the column of online games for kids.
It’s mostly called “Find the pair”.At first these were the table games.
The essence of the game is to gather as fast as possible pairs of the same pictures.
- In order to do it a player opens any two cards, which are put face down in four or eight rows.
- You turn two pictures: if they match, you take them away.
- If not, you must remember where every picture was. When you open another pair, you have to remember where the initial variant was and open two identical pictures.
In the electronic version you can play very quickly and actually turn it in training.
Try to memorize at once 64 pictures, even in pairs!
That’s why, do not be lazybones and the results will turn out brilliant.
The game “Dark room”.
One is likely to recognize the good old play: “In a dark-dark room…”
But actually you really need a dark room, a table lamp, a sheet of non-transparent paper and a favorite book.
- When you find yourself in the room, you must concentrate on maximum, lest any sounds distracted you.
- You must close a page with a sheet of paper, leaving one paragraph; read it and turn off the lamp.
- As soon as your eyes get used to the darkness, you must turn on the light for a second and read the paragraph again.
- Do such reading several times.
- The text must be rather close to the eyes, so that you could read it very quickly.
This way, on the inner side of retina there’ll stay a kind of photo of this text, which you’ll be able to reproduce any moment.
The similar technique was used to prepare military men, especially secret service men.
They were required to reproduce from the memory a line or a word from the needed page from any paragraph.
Surely, those who start developing photographic memory will unlikely be soldiers.
Though, the possibility to memorize much information visually, without overloading brain with unnecessary information, attracts many people.
There is a well-known case, when a student went to the Chemistry exam instead of her friend, having no idea about the subject, because she was a student of the Sociology department.
Two hours before the exam she read the chemistry book and received an excellent mark because she told the information from the examination card by reproducing from the memory the needed pages of the certain section.
Useful tips, which help to develop a photographic memory quicker
Many people, who suffer from depression, describe memory loss and difficulties in concentrating as the main symptoms.
Anxiety, depression, anger and other stressful tense conditions increase the level of cortisol in the brains, which can lead to the hippocampus cells’ damage, i.e. damage in the sphere of brain, which is responsible for memory conservation.
Keep your brain active.
Just like your muscles, your brain works better if you train it.
Unfortunately, many people are so depressed by the routine problems that they can spend several days in a row making their brain work on automatic pilot.
Try to adopt to your week some of the following exercises that activate brain:
- Do crosswords.
- Read books.
- Read newspapers.
- Play table games.
- Learn a new language or master a new instrument.
- Sign up for a course in your local college.
Physical activities increase the blood flow in every part of your body, switching on your brain.
It may bring more oxygen and essential nutrients to your brain and assist in its better functioning and development.
Aim to devote at least 30 minutes to aerobics five times a week.
As far as you know, there is no end to perfection!
Do not stop on the achieved: look for the new ways and methods how to develop a photographic memory and train it constantly.
Soon your work is sure to prove how fruitful it was by scoring high results!
